Earthquake in Chile
February 27, 2010, 4:50 pm

If you have not heard, a massive 8.8 scale earthquake hit Chile earlier this morning. For reference, Haiti was hit earlier this year was a 7.0 earthquake. Besides the damage and aftershocks that are affecting Chile, about 50 countries (including the U.S. -> Hawaii) are expecting to be hit with tsunami’s. While this earthquake has not caused the number of deaths compared to earlier this year in Haiti, the earthquake has still caused massive amounts of destruction and most likely many left homeless.

You can get up-to-date information about the earthquake crisis at CNN. I am currently trying to find legit organizations that you can send monetary donations to. I will update this post with ways to help and/or donate to the areas that are being affected.

J. Crew Sale!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’ll be moving and will be needing some warmer clothes. J. Crew currently has a lot of their winter accessories on sale so I picked up a few things.

Up first, are some merino gloves in the snow color. Next is the merino basket-weave scarf in the snow as well.

And the last of the winter accessories is the merino trapper hat (in the color snow of course)!

So with all these accessories, I’ll be matching and kept warm 🙂

I also couldn’t resist picking up a top that I saw on a few other bloggers, the Perfect Fit Cascade Tee (Tara from Little Girl Big Closet, Gigi from Gigi’s Gone Shopping, and last but not least, pudding and the post fab princess).

Since it was on sale and is a pretty versatile top that can be dressed up or down, I picked it up in the ivory, dark charcoal, sheer lilac and wild plum colors!

Another update post

Well, I wish I could say I’m all better but I’m still not. Being sick has gotten me behind in lots of work for grad school which now I’m working double-time to catch up. Some good news is that all of my supervisors (who averaged together a score for me) gave me an A for my clinical skills! That involves everything from my research skills, writing skills, patient/client documentation skills, therapy planning, therapy administration, etc. Needless to say, I was very happy!

On another note, the tights I ordered from Kohl’s arrived! However, they don’t fit. According to the size chart, the medium should have been a little bit on me in terms of weight (not in terms of height). But, I could barely get them on. So, this weekend I’ll be returning them. I did think they were made of good quality though. I doubt I’ll find my size in a B&M store because they are a clearance item.

I did get a chance to peak at some of the new arrivals on the Anthropologie website. There are so many new things I want to add to my wishlist!! I feel like there has been a good couple of months where there has only been a few items that have caught my eye. Well, not anymore! I’ll post more about it this weekend 🙂

Have a happy friday tomorrow everyone!

A Thoughtful Gift

This past weekend was my wedding anniversary and I decided to get the more “thoughtful” type of gift for my husband this year.

I customized a sterling silver keychain from the wonderful Amy Cornwell at Amy Cornwell Designs. She was very helpful in the design process and I received the keychain in a very short amount of time!

Please excuse the blocking out of some of the keychain, but I wanted to keep some of it personal. But the part you do see, gave my husband a good laugh 🙂

As I posted about earlier today, I’ve been sick for days and instead of feeling better, my symptoms are just changing up a bit. I wasn’t able to make it to Anthropologie this weekend like I had planned or do just about anything.

Since I am still feeling a quite a bit under the weather, this post will be short. I was tagged by the wonderful blogger The British Anthropologi(e)st, (I always enjoy reading her Anthropologie reviews that are full of humor and the adorable outfits she creates) to make a list of the 10 things that make me happy. So here we go…

Here are the rules:

List 10 things that make you happy. (try to do one of those things TODAY!)

Tag 10 bloggers that brighten your day.

Make sure to link back to the person that tagged you!

1. My husband making pancakes on Sunday mornings.

2. My cat and puppy greeting me when I come home.

3. Scoring an incredible sale by chance when shopping.

4. Getting together with my girlfriends for a shopping venture or game night

5. Spending time with family

6. A relaxing hot shower after a long day

7. Traveling to familiar and unfamiliar places

8. Taking photos; something I haven’t gotten to do a lot since high school

9. Getting a good grade in grad school

10. Watching a good movie (which isn’t easy to find these days!)

I tag…

I realized I haven’t posted in a couple of days and I wanted to apologize for that. I got a nasty cold last Thursday and it still hasn’t gone away. As soon as I am feeling better, there will be some new posts 🙂

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Chevron Tights *Updated*
February 18, 2010, 7:11 pm

Earlier this morning I was on ideeli, a website that sells designer items through private sales online. If you would like a free invite, just click here. I was debating on whether or not I should get some adorable chevron tights from free people. I had been eyeing them a couple of months ago, but figured they would be impractical for where I lived. However, now that I will be moving to a cooler climate in August, I figured I better get some good tights now why they are on sale! They are marked down to $16.00 from $33.00! Before I submitted my credit card info, I decided to google some ways on how to wear chevron tights. I ended stumbling upon the Kohls website which listed almost an exact dupe of the free people tights for only $5.99! The Kohls tights can be found here. So, I ended up ordering the black and charcoal tights from Kohls. I then went back to perusing my google image search and came across a photo of Taylor Swift wearing the purple chevron tights from free people (which are still available on ideeli – at the moment).

There is a slight difference between the free people tights and the ones from Kohls. The tights from free people have a contrast stripe going down the side, whereas the ones from Kohls don’t.

These are the charcoal/mustard tights from free people. For Kohls, just imagine it without the side stripe 😛

I guess it goes to show that sometimes it does pay to shop around a little. I paid a fraction of the cost of the free people tights (that were already on sale) and I also used Ebates and will be getting back a couple of extra dollars. If you haven’t signed up for Ebates yet, you can do that here. Basically if you click through their links to certain stores online, they get some money and you get some money (instead of you getting nothing going to the website yourself). It is legit, I got one check last fall, and my next should be arriving any day.

If you have any questions about Ideeli or Ebates, feel free to ask 🙂 And if you have suggestions for styling the chevron tights, please let me know!

*Update* If you order from Kohls, be sure to use the code “YOURGIFT” to save an extra 20% from now until 2/21/10 AND the price of the tights has dropped down to $3.99 each!
